THE KPM+ EDITION BY ARTIST ANNA HAIFISCH IS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE A DUO SET OF LAB PLATES 26 – PRESENTED BY SZ MAGAZINE

With the LAB plate duo setFrederick's dogsKPM Berlin continues its successful artistic collaboration with Anna Haifisch—presented by SZ Magazine. Following the bowl and cup, the edition now expands to include the LAB plate 26, opening a new stage for Haifisch's subtle drawings that combine humor, history, and porcelain tradition.

Frederick Great had two great passions: porcelain and dogs. His greyhounds were as charming as they were naughty, dressed in fine clothes and spoken to in French – yet they still left their mark on the canapés of Sanssouci.

The multi-award-winning Leipzig artist and comic book illustrator Anna Haifisch has now transferred these capricious companions to the LAB Plate 26. In delicate blue lines, Hasenfuß, Arsinoe, Superbe, and Thisbe play their pranks on a white background—a humorous reference to courtly eccentricity and lived history.

The decorations were applied by KPM master painters using a hand-printing process in accordance with the artist's wishes. This makes the plates particularly robust and dishwasher-safe. The duo set will be available from February 6, 2026, in KPM Berlin stores and in the online shop.

THE SECOND EDITION OF THE ARTIST COOPERATION

Two stacked cups on a can, with a blue backdrop.

The LAB cup No. 1 marked the second round of the artist collaboration. Anna Haifisch focuses here on the greyhound Biche and the dwarf spaniel Folichon – protagonists of an extraordinary pen pal friendship between Frederick Great and his sister Wilhelmine of Prussia.

In heartbreaking dog letters, the animals wrote longing lines on behalf of their owners. Haifisch translates this intimate, slightly eccentric relationship into finely drawn scenes on the LAB mugs: Biche and Folichon cuddle under blankets and on pillows, just like spoiled, royal darlings.

THE FIRST EDITION OF THE ARTIST COOPERATION

Two decorative bowls stacked with a blue leash on a blue background.

The edition kicked off with the LAB Bowl Set, which is dedicated to Friedrich's seven wind chimes: Biche, Alcmène, Hasenfuß, Thisbe, Phillis, Arsinoe, and Superbe. They leap, chase, and play across the porcelain in characteristically delicate lines.

It is no coincidence that their pointed silhouettes are reminiscent of birds—a subtle reference to Haifisch's own imagery as well as to Friedrich's tongue-in-cheek observation that the wind chime is less a dog than "a four-legged bird."

HAD TWO GREAT LOVES: PORCELAIN AND DOGS

Frederick Great had two great loves: porcelain and dogs. His last words were for Superbe, his favorite dog, who remained faithfully at his deathbed.

Anna Haifisch is one of Germany's most important contemporary comic artists and illustrators. In her work, she combines laconic humor with a keen sense of melancholy, history, and interpersonal relationships.

When working with porcelain, purity, whiteness, and hardness play a central role for Anna Haifisch, much like with paper. "When an ink pen glides smoothly and effortlessly across a smooth surface, there is nothing more satisfying for me," the artist sums up.

The designs for the KPM+ Edition were created in close collaboration with Haifisch by KPM's master painters using a traditional hand-printing process, combining artistic flair with the highest level of craftsmanship.
