Frederick Great had two great passions: porcelain and dogs. His greyhounds were as charming as they were naughty. He had elegant clothes made for them and spoke to them in French. In return, they dirtied the canapés and curtains of Sanssouci Palace. And yet he did everything for his beloved pets.
The multi-award-winning Leipzig artist and comic book illustrator Anna Haifisch now transfers Friedrich's capricious and wonderfully spoiled animals to the LAB Plate 26 – once again as a humorous reference to history. Hasenfuß, Arsinoe, Superbe, and Thisbe play their pranks in delicate blue lines on a white background.
When working with porcelain, purity, whiteness, and hardness play a central role, similar to her preferred medium of paper. "When an ink pen glides smoothly and effortlessly over a smooth surface, there is nothing more satisfying for me," the artist sums up.
Note: In accordance with the artist's wishes, the designs in this edition were applied by KPM master painters using a hand-printing process, making them particularly robust and dishwasher-safe.
