History

designer: Siegmund Schütz year: 1938 material: porcelain

Each of the precious ARKADIA medallions tells a story from the world of ancient legends. Trude Petri's neoclassical form, created in 1938, provides the ideal stage for the appearances of Cupid, Demeter and Pan, Dolphin and Leo, Shell and Pan Flute - the variety of motifs and ideas seems limitless. Siegmund Schütz modeled the filigree reliefs from biscuit porcelain. The marble-like texture of the material allows the fine contours to stand out strikingly in the interplay of light and shadow and brings fabulous moments to the laid table.

Product description

The KPM ARKADIA AMOR service with its oval mocha pot is a real eye-catcher. The relief medallion depicts Adam and Eve, the first humans from the biblical story of creation. The pot from KPM Berlin holds 0.75 liters.

With the exclusive ARKADIA service, KPM Berlin transports the viewer to the dreamland of Arcadia. Inspired by the small medallions created by Siegmund Schütz at KPM, the director of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin commissioned Trude Petri to develop a suitable service form. The interplay of light and shadow on the porcelain is fascinating: the rough biscuit porcelain of the medallions contrasts with the glazed, shiny surface of the rest of the form. Thematically, the medallions tie in with the ancient cameo tradition and tell the story of Arcadia.
