History

Client: Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland Year: 1790 Material: Porcelain

Commissioned by Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland, a series in strict classical form, following the new aesthetic, was created in Berlin around 1790, which was to become an icon of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin: KURLAND. Its form is a tribute to the ideals and design of the ancient world. Objectivity, austerity and symmetry combine to create a noble, self-contained and timeless form – probably the most important porcelain collection of Classicism.

Product description

The Royal Marbre version of the KURLAND collection represents the revitalization of the iconic service classic from the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin with a faceted look. The composition of smooth-glazed porcelain on the plate and matt Biscuit, which demonstrates outstanding skill, creates a visually and haptically captivating interplay of contrasts that provides the ideal stage for exquisite menus. Just in time for the season of festive dinners and occasions, five new color variations ensure enthusiastic looks. The Marbre variant with its spectacular material imitation is a testimony to the unique artistry of KPM's master painters. The incomparable virtuosity of the master painters in their handling of the precious material porcelain and a rich palette of colors enable them to create a realistic illusion of marble, a stone that has always fascinated with its unique texture. In ancient times, it was so precious that it was reserved for the production of statues of honor in the imperial family. Today, the royal dinner service brings this luxury into your own four walls and to the dinner table at home.
