Mr. Roessiger, you have been working for KPM Berlin for 35 years. How did it all start?

I completed my training as a porcelain painter at KPM from 1986 to 1989. In the years that followed, I helped out in sales from time to time and soon realized: I really want to do that! I have been a store manager at KPM since the mid-90s.

How is your working day?

With my team, I take care of receiving goods, managing our customer orders and implementing marketing measures. It is important to us to work together to create a good atmosphere in the store. The best thing for me is the encounters with our customers, where porcelain is often the connecting element for topics related to culture, art and cuisine. Our regular customers stop by regularly for an espresso.

Which event in your professional life do you particularly remember?

The Prince of Prussia and his bride Sophie had deposited their wedding list with us. Managing the gifts and communicating with guests from all over the world was a full-time job and I had a lot of fun.

What are you looking forward to in the new store?

Here’s to working with Sawade! We have a lot more space, can design shop windows and areas together and think about new collaborations. High-quality porcelain and fantastic chocolates – what a wonderful synergy!

The KPM Store on Kurfürstendamm has been located in Udo Walz's former salon since September 2021.
