With the KPM+ format, KPM Berlin institutionalized a docking station for the creative dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art four years ago. Since then, it has teamed up with internationally acclaimed artists such as Stefan Marx, Jean Jullien, Zeloot and Andy Rementer. For the new KPM+ Artist Edition and together with the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine, KPM Berlin has now won the French artist and illustrator Serge Bloch. Together they bid farewell to this extraordinary year with a humorous 'Au revoir! The basis of the collaboration is a KPM object that translates from French as 'empty pocket' and is part of the establishment in well-stocked households from Paris to Berlin: the Vide Poche, from the French. A bowl that keeps all 'les nécessités de la vie' within easy reach, from keys - in Bloch's case those to his dreams - to discarded jewelry and small change. Bloch's illustration shows the 'gentleman en route', ready to go out with his hat and coat. The viewer accompanies him step by step and says goodbye in a way that guarantees a smile when the special bowl is refilled on his return. A charming, even practical work of art for everyday life that gives the home that famous 'je ne sais quoi' that only real French people can achieve.
