Stuttgart-based artist Reiner Xaver Sedelmeier inspired KPM Chief Designer Thomas Wenzel to collaborate on a project where everyday design meets high-quality porcelain. The decor was modeled after industrial fenders. The result was a collection of cylindrical jugs, mugs, and vases made of bisque porcelain, featuring the metal’s characteristic elliptical shapes. The industrial inspiration captivated KPM Chief Designer Thomas Wenzel and defined the form: “Tear-drop-shaped sheet metal is usually rolled, so the starting point was quickly to use the cylinder—or, in other words, the tube—as the shape.”
