Product Information

Stuttgart-based artist Reiner Xaver Sedelmeier became known for his corrugated-metal loungers, chairs without seats, and a gold trash can. With this limited-edition KPM+ piece, the artist once again strips the MANDORLA design of its utilitarian aspect, transforming the everyday object—the vase—into a work of art featuring geometric gold accents. “It is my passion to imbue objects, materials, and items with new meaning and reinterpret them by stripping them of their intended purpose—that is, by freeing them from their original functionality. What fascinates me most about this edition is the contrast between the protective quality of the sheet steel and the fragility of the porcelain.” The vase is limited to 25 pieces.

Care

To preserve the beauty of KPM Berlin 's delicate porcelain for generations to come, we recommend handling it with care and gentleness. Use a soft, dry cloth or a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from the porcelain.

If the porcelain is heavily soiled, you can clean it with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Use a soft cloth and avoid applying pressure to delicate details. Then rinse the porcelain with clean water and dry it gently.

History
Designer: Thomas Wenzel
Year: 2022
Material: Porcelain
The Stuttgart artist Reiner Xaver Sedelmeier inspired KPM head designer Thomas Wenzel to create a collaboration in which everyday design meets high-quality porcelain. The decor was inspired by industrial protective plates. The result was a jug, cup and vases made of biscuit porcelain in cylindrical form, which were given the typical elliptical shapes of metal. The industrial derivation inspired KPM head designer Thomas Wenzel and defined the shape: "Tear plate is normally rolled, so the starting point was quickly to take the cylinder or, in other words, the tube as the shape."
