Product description

The internationally acclaimed artist Marcel Dzama has designed an exclusive edition for the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin in collaboration with the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine. With the "Blue Moon" vase, limited to 100 pieces, the Canadian artist combines traditional porcelain craftsmanship with contemporary art.

The Canadian artist transports his mystical, fairytale-like painting onto the LAB Vase KOLBENFORM conical from KPM Berlin, thereby simultaneously creating a monument to the beginnings of film. The central motif of the vase - a mysterious moon - is an homage to Georges Méliès' iconic film "Journey to the Moon" from 1902. Dzama thus builds an artistic bridge between fantasy, reality and the dream world - a recurring theme in his work.

Dzama's motifs were transferred to the vases in the KPM Berlin master painting workshop in the historic manufactory on the edge of the Tiergarten and printed on by hand. To create the mystical blue ground, the illustrations were masked with stencils and the vase was sprayed by hand.

The handmade KOLBENFORM conical vase from the LAB series, which was created in 2015, combines timeless elegance with modern multifunctionality. The subtle contrast between the glossy-smooth and velvety-matt surface and the clear, elegant lines are particularly characteristic, embodying both timeless aesthetics and modern functionality.
