BLANC NOUVEAU pickle dish/ gravy boat base

The uses for the cucumber bowl from KPM Berlin’s “ KURLAND ” Blanc Nouveau tableware collection extend far beyond its name. The bowl is, of course, just as well suited for serving side dishes, raw vegetables, cheese, cold cuts, or pastries. Its oval shape also makes it the perfect saucer for the “ KURLAND ” Blanc Nouveau sauce boat. Following the courtly Rococo style with its shell and vine motifs, the design language of antiquity became the dominant stylistic element at KPM Berlin as well by the end of the 18th century. Thus, in 1790, the strictly neoclassical “ KURLAND ” form was created at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin.
