Each of the precious “ ARKADIA ” medallions tells a story from the world of ancient mythology. Trude Petri’s neoclassical design, created in 1938, provides the ideal stage for Cupid, Demeter, and Pan; the dolphin and the lion; the seashell and the pan flute—the variety of motifs and ideas seems boundless. Siegmund Schütz sculpted the delicate reliefs from bisque porcelain. The marble-like texture of the material allows the fine contours to stand out strikingly in the play of light and shadow, bringing legendary moments to the set table.
