KPM Berlin ’s medium-height URBINO cup is a true all-rounder; with its hemispherical shape, it’s suitable for both coffee and tea. Consistent in every respect—that’s how one might describe the URBINO series designed by Trude Petri for KPM Berlin . It offers a wide variety of variations on the basic spherical form. Created during the era of the Bauhaus and New Objectivity and inspired by Far Eastern vessel forms as well as flangeless Renaissance plates, the series bears the name of the Italian city of Urbino, famous for its ceramic workshops. With URBINO, the “ KPM Berlin ” created a design classic that fulfills the standard of a harmonious combination of form and function in every respect.

Care

To ensure that you can enjoy the delicate, masterfully hand-painted designs for a lifetime, we recommend handling them with care. The painted porcelain is generally dishwasher-safe; however, it is best to wash it by hand on a regular basis to prevent the colors from fading due to overly frequent machine washing over an extended period of time.

Due to the metallic finishes—24k gold or glossy platinum—the porcelain is not suitable for use in the microwave.

In 1931, Trude Petri designed the URBINO collection. Its clarity and aesthetics, created through consistent omission, are based on the most balanced of all forms: the circle. Inspiration was also provided by the Upper Italian Renaissance and the Italian city of Urbino as the namesake of the collection. The special thinness of the pieces conveys a delicate lightness that supports everyday enjoyment.
