Product Information

To mark the 250th anniversary of Queen Luise of Prussia’s birth, KPM Berlin is launching the Heritage Edition Luise, a collection of five products handcrafted at its workshops in Tiergarten. Wallpaper motifs evoking the late 18th century adorn the KURLANDcup, the Cadre 0, 1, and 2, and the Vide Poche. Inspired by Luise’s favorite place, Paretz Palace, KPM’s master painters have transferred exotic flowering trees, birds, and berries onto porcelain with delicate brushstrokes, lending the Luise Edition an extraordinary painterly depth. Produced in a limited edition of 100 individually numbered pieces, the To-Go cup is cup true collector’s item.

Care

To ensure that you can enjoy the delicate, masterfully hand-painted designs for a lifetime, we recommend handling the pieces with care. The painted porcelain is generally dishwasher-safe; however, it is best to wash it by hand regularly to prevent the colors from fading due to overly frequent machine washing over an extended period. Due to the metallic finishes featuring 24k gold or glossy platinum, the porcelain is not suitable for use in the microwave.

Please note that when cleaning the lid in the dishwasher, contact with foods that have very intense colors may cause discoloration. We therefore recommend washing it by hand as a precaution. The lid is not microwave-safe.

Commissioned by Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland, a series in a strictly neoclassical style was created in Berlin around 1790 in keeping with the new aesthetic—a series that would go on to become an icon of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin: KURLAND. Its design pays homage to the ideals and forms of the ancient world. Simplicity, austerity, and symmetry come together to form an elegant, cohesive, and timeless design—arguably the most significant porcelain collection of the Classical period.
