History

Client: Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland Year: 1790 Material: Porcelain

Commissioned by Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland, a series in strict classical form, following the new aesthetic, was created in Berlin around 1790, which was to become an icon of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin: KURLAND. Its form is a tribute to the ideals and design of the ancient world. Objectivity, austerity and symmetry combine to create a noble, self-contained and timeless form – probably the most important porcelain collection of Classicism.

Product description

With its tapered shape, the KURLAND coffee pot is a refreshing counterpart to the KURLAND coffee and mocha cups, which open upwards. The KPM designers drew inspiration for the exciting design, which turns the traditional KURLAND on its head, from another famous classic: The Bialetti Moka Express from the 1930s, which can be found in almost every Italian household. Designed for two portions of filter coffee or four to six cups of espresso, the KURLAND coffee pot is a tribute to the Italian way of life. The iconic relief of the collection is the crowning touch and makes the pot, small an exclusive eye-catcher.
