History

client: Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland year: 1790 material: porcelain

Commissioned by Peter von Biron, Duke of Kurland, a series in strict classicist form was created in Berlin around 1790 in line with the new aesthetic, which was to become the icon of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin: KURLAND. Its shape pays homage to the ideals and design of the ancient world. Objectivity, austerity and symmetry combine to create a noble, cohesive and timeless form - probably the most important porcelain collection of classicism.

Product description

Not everything always has to be round - when it comes to porcelain from the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, a dessert bowl can sometimes be angular. The KURLAND bowl from KPM Berlin has relief decorations on the rim and is available in the online store in four other designs in addition to pure white.

With the classic KURLAND , the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin builds a bridge between tradition and innovation. The traditional values and shapes can still be found in the Berlin manufactory today, but are kept alive through contemporary interpretations. This creates a bridge between the royal past and the manufactory's glamorous future.
