In the 1930s, KPM Berlin brought the art of relief to its highest level of perfection. The motifs are often inspired by nature, literary themes, and motifs from Greek mythology. The relief on the HEXENBECHER, based on a design by Gerhard Gollwitzer from 1937, depicts a Walpurgis Night scene from Goethe’s *Faust I*. It portrays the so-called “Windsbraut,” the whirlwind of the witches. The HEXENBECHER by KPM Berlin is made of white or gold-platedbiscuit porcelain, which has been glazed on the inside.
