In the 1930s, the “ KPM Berlin ” brought the art of relief to its highest level of perfection. The motifs are often inspired by nature, literary themes, and motifs from Greek mythology. The relief on the HEXENBECHER, based on a 1937 design by Gerhard Gollwitzer, depicts the Walpurgis Night scene from Goethe’s *Faust I*. It portrays the so-called “Windsbraut,” the witches’ whirlwind. The HEXENBECHER from the * KPM Berlin * is made of white or gold-plated * biscuit porcelain*, which has been glazed on the inside.
