The bust of Queen Luise of Prussia was created in 1798 by KPM sculptor Johann Carl Frederick Riese, who based his design on Johann Gottfried Schadow’s *Prinzessinnengruppe*. Having become Queen of Prussia only shortly before, in November 1797, the “ KPM Berlin ” responded with this bust to the growing demand at the time for portraits of the young, extraordinarily popular queen. The Neoclassical bust draws on ancient models and depicts Queen Luise on a simple columnar pedestal in a flowing robe and entirely without symbols of authority.

A Bouquet in " blue": With the “Édition Bleuet,” KPM is launching an airy blue cornflower design. The cornflower—as simple and unassuming as it may seem—was Queen Luise’s favorite flower; she wove wreaths with her children, and her grave was adorned with fresh flowers by “ Frederick ” Wilhelm. Reason enough for KPM to transfer the blossoms with an almost transparent brushstroke onto the iconic Louise bust, which immortalizes the “good queen” with her delicately rendered features. The “Édition Bleuet” bust is strictly limited to a run of only 25 pieces.
