Product Information

With the “ soup cup ” and the matching “ saucer ” from the ARKADIA collection at KPM Berlin , there are no limits to your imagination. The “ soup cup ” has a diameter of 11.5 cm, and the “ saucer ” measures 17.5 cm in diameter. The bisque medallion on the front of the cup depicts a Bacchante—a participant in a ritual celebration of Dionysus. In the ARKADIA tableware set from KPM Berlin , dream and reality lie close together and tell of multi-layered legends. The cylindrical or conical design of this set from KPM Berlin was created by Trude Petri on commission from the then-director of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin. Let yourself be captivated by the interplay of light and shadow on the various porcelain surfaces and immerse yourself in the world of ARKADIA.

Care

To ensure that you can enjoy the delicate, masterfully hand-painted designs for a lifetime, we recommend handling them with care. The painted porcelain is generally dishwasher-safe; however, it is best to wash it by hand on a regular basis to prevent the colors from fading due to overly frequent machine washing over an extended period of time.

Due to the metallic finishes—24k gold or glossy platinum—the porcelain is not suitable for use in the microwave.

History
Designer: Siegmund Schütz
Year: 1938
Material: Porcelain
Each of the precious ARKADIA medallions tells a story from the world of ancient legends. Trude Petri's neoclassical form, created in 1938, provides the ideal stage for the appearances of Cupid, Demeter and Pan, dolphin and lion, shell and panpipe - the variety of motifs and ideas seems limitless. Siegmund Schütz modeled the filigree reliefs from biscuit porcelain. The marble-like texture of the material allows the fine contours to stand out in the interplay of light and shadow and brings fabulous moments to the table.
