KURLAND NOIR
With the KURLAND Noir collection, Jörg WoltmannNoir his 20th anniversary as owner of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin. This special new edition of KURLAND sums up the motto under which the KPM owner has been running the manufactory since taking it over in 2006: to preserve a craft steeped in tradition, carefully guide it into the modern age, and strengthen it for the future.
The KURLAND , synonymous with perfect craftsmanship and timeless elegance since 1790, remains one of KPM Berlin's bestsellers to this day and is Jörg Woltmann's personal favorite.
With the KURLAND Noir collection, consisting of two to-go cups, two bowls, two dessert plates, and two large dinner plates, the classic now appears in a contemporary light. THE GLAZE – PRECISION FROM THE KPM LABORATORY
The glaze was specially developed in the KPM Berlin laboratory. It consists of 70 percent of the proven transparent glaze and 30 percent black color pigments – thus retaining the excellent resistance of the classic white glaze is fully retained and KURLAND Noir also scratch and dishwasher safe.
Each piece is sprayed by hand on both sides, with the foot and underside deliberately left white before the porcelain is fired at 1,250 degrees Celsius. During this high-temperature firing , pigments and glaze fuse to form a deep, velvety-matte surface with exceptional visual depth.
