KURLAND

Its design is a homage to the ideals and forms of the ancient world. Objectivity, rigor and symmetry combine to create a noble, closed and timeless form - and probably the most important Berlin collection of classicism.

Rich flower painting background gold - decor 74

Naturalistic flower paintings are one of the cornerstones of KPM Berlin's artistic reputation. Painted freely by hand and their composition curated by the master painter, delicate blossoms, a mint-colored background and accents in shiny gold vitalize the KURLAND collection in decor 74 in a new way.

PETER BIRON, DUKE OF KURLAND
In 1790, Peter Biron, Duke of Courland, commissioned the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin to design a magnificent dinner service. After the courtly Rococo with its shell and tendril work, around 1770, a return to antiquity became the dominant stylistic device. In keeping with the new aesthetic, the Berlin manufactory created a collection in a strictly classicist form called "Service with antique edge". In honor of its client, it was later renamed KURLAND .
