The internationally renowned artist Tatjana Doll transports her aesthetics to the KPM To-go cup. With the WINNICOTT edition, limited to 100 pieces, she combines her adopted home of Berlin with the traditional craftsmanship of KPM Berlin in the form of a bear motif.
The edition will be presented by Galerie Droste as part of the 20th Gallery Weekend Berlin at Studio 1763 on the legendary Kurfürstendamm.
Tatjana Doll is known for her large-scale canvas works, often with everyday motifs that play with different formats and painting techniques. During the painting process, the social and political backgrounds of the objects become tangible for the artist. She asks herself what makes us human and what connects cultures.
The KPM+ cooperation is a condensation of their creative work in a very small space.
On the one hand, the To-go cup WINNICOTT has a direct connection to her painterly oeuvre, as the motif was laid out as a floor in her studio for several years. On the other hand, the cup represents a transitional object coined by the British psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott. Winnicott described the early childhood transfer of affection to an object (often a teddy bear) as a safe testing of a certain independence. In this way, the to-go cup makes a piece of well-being transportable.
