Pure poetry - a visit to the Hamburg stylist and interior designer

For Hamburg-based stylist and interior designer Wolfram Neugebauer, every piece of porcelain has a story behind it: He first discovered KPM Berlin as a young man at a friend’s house and fell in love with her “ ARKADIA ” series right away. It’s a love that continues to this day: His friend bequeathed her KPM set to him, thus laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. Since then, the classic “ ARKADIA ” porcelain has been an indispensable part of his sophisticated table settings—it takes center stage at every table.

Trude Petri was responsible for the design of this 1938 collection. The various motifs on the relief medallions—which draw on the ancient tradition of cameos—were designed by the sculptor and porcelain modeler Siegmund Schütz: They’re not only eye-catching but also spark conversation at the table, as Neugebauer explains: “A nymph, Neptune, or a shell: Many of my friends have a favorite motif— ARKADIA —or ask about the meaning of the figures in the bisque medallions.” In this way, the stories of the dreamland Arcadia find their way into today’s dinner parties in a charming way.
