The Collection BERLIN achieves what only the city that lends its name to this unconventional design can: creating something beautiful from the symbiosis of contradictions. It unites tradition and innovation, classic form and new accents. The convex-concave interplay of the plate rims and the reproduction of the perfect spherical shape in “ pot ” and the lid handle—in contrast to the characteristic inverted handle—demonstrate the compatibility of opposites, just as its designer, the Italian Enzo Mari, once did. Developed in 1996 by Mari in collaboration with the designers at KPM Berlin , the series is distinguished by its functional character, which earned it the “iF Design Award.” Gone are the days of rigidly defined shapes and norms at the table—the collection offers as much creative freedom as its namesake, the city of Berlin.
CANTO FARBRAND BLACK
With the Canto " colored rim " Black, the BERLIN collection takes on a striking graphic silhouette. The dark accent frames the white porcelain forms like a delicate sketch and highlights the interplay of clarity, tension, and restraint. Plates, cups, and small bowls thus come together as a modern ensemble for minimalist table settings.
SIMPLE PLATINUM ACCENTS
A delicate line of real shiny platinum, drawn by a practiced hand with a brush, gives the BERLIN collection in decor 11 a touch of luxury. The COLORS OF BERLIN mugs reflect the close connection between the porcelain manufacturer and its hometown. ENZO MARI
Enzo Mari is one of the most intellectual and influential international designers of the second half of the 20th century. In collaboration with KPM studio and current chief designer Thomas Wenzel, Mari revolutionized manufacturing processes and design guidelines, creating a collection of vases and the now-iconic BERLIN design between 1993 and 1996.
