The original marble figures found their place in Sanssouci Park in 1752 as gifts from the French King Louis XV to Frederick the Great. Frederick the Great was delighted and thanked the French king. In the detailed re-edition of the KPM model workshop, a perfect illusion of black marble with elegant polished gold accents is created by the manufactory's master painters using an elaborate hand-painting technique.
