Stefan Szczesny is one of the leading figures of the “Young Wild Ones,” a movement that emerged in the 1980s as a counter-movement to the conceptual and minimalist art that dominated the art world at the time. Born in Munich in 1951, the artist now lives and works in Saint-Tropez, following creative periods in Paris and New York. The life-affirming and decorative lightness of his works demonstrates that art does not always have to deal with the depths of despair, but may also celebrate life. As a painter, sculptor, and draftsman, his subjects are expressive forms and colors—such as stylized flowers, Mediterranean fruits, and beautiful female figures. For the Royal Porcelain Manufactory , he applies these by hand to KPM’s design icons (floor vase , the “HALLE 3” vase, Löberschale cup “To-go” cup).
