UNSER SANDMÄNNCHEN in green: As a nature lover and animal lover, the legendary character now appears in Berlin’s green hues. The elegant, lustrous color pays homage to the capital’s green spaces—from the Köpenick Forest to the Tiergarten and the Grunewald.
This porcelain figurine, reimagined by KPM’s chief designer Thomas Wenzel, is already the fourth collaborative edition between KPM Berlin and rbb media. To mark the Sandmännchen’s 67th birthday, it is limited to just 67 pieces.
FROM WHITE TO BERLIN GREEN
Each porcelain figurine is handcrafted in our historic workshop in Tiergarten. These glimpses into the white-body production process show how “ UNSER SANDMÄNNCHEN ” takes shape.
It then acquires its distinctive character during the master painting process: Here, the elegant “Berliner Grün” luster paint is carefully applied by hand.
