The illustrator Stefan Marx and KPM Berlin have enjoyed a close friendship for several years. This began in the course of a joint project with Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine, in which Stefan Marx decorated a tureen from the traditional KURLAND series. Enthusiastic about each other's skills, the first KPM+ Stefan Marx Edition was created in November 2017.

Stefan Marx also adopted KPM's guiding principle of "handmade in Berlin": After designing each piece of porcelain for the first two joint KPM+ Sundaayyyssss editions for coffee and espresso by hand himself and under the guidance of the KPM painters, he quickly became a permanent guest and soon became part of the interior of the capital's painting workshop. During his visits, the two creative partners were quickly able to convince each other of the conscientious working techniques, experiment together and discover synergies that inspired their creativity. This laid the foundation for the now launched KPM+ Sundaayyyyssss Tea Time Edition, which - in keeping with the fall/winter season and driven by the artist's passion for Japan - invites you to take high tea with URBINO porcelain.
Stefan Marx is particularly fond of the iconic URBINO series. He uses it to stage his well-known "Sundaayyyyssss" motifs: for the artist, the drawn dog embodies his personal aversion to Sundays, which he fights against with his humorous drawings.

For the first edition in winter 2017, Marx took on the espresso items. In summer 2018, he then turned his attention to the coffee service.
After numerous orders for the first KPM+ Edition were received by December 3, 2017, Stefan Marx personally spent two days at the manufactory to paint the URBINO pieces by hand. Watch here how Stefan Marx hand-paints pieces of the first KPM+ edition.
