The illustrator Stefan Marx and KPM Berlin have been close friends for several years. This began as part of a joint project with the Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, in which Stefan Marx decorated a tureen from the traditional KURLAND series . Inspired by each other's skills, the first KPM+ Stefan Marx Edition unfolded in November 2017.
Stefan Marx also adopted the KPM's leitmotif, “handmade in Berlin”: after he designed each piece of porcelain by hand for the first two joint KPM+ Sundaayyyssss editions on coffee and espresso himself and under the guidance of the KPM painters, he became quick became a permanent guest and soon became part of the interior of the capital's painting department. During his visits, the two creative partners were quickly able to convince each other of the conscientious working techniques, experiment together and discover synergies that inspired creativity. This laid the foundation for the now launched KPM+ Sundaayyyssss Tea Time Edition, which - in keeping with the autumn-winter season and driven by the artist's passion for Japan - invites you to high tea with URBINO porcelain.
Stefan Marx is particularly fond of the iconic URBINO series. On it he stages his well-known "Sundaayyyssss" motifs: For the artist, the drawn dog embodies his personal aversion to Sunday, which he fights against with his humorous drawings.
For the first edition in winter 2017, Marx took on the espresso items. In the summer of 2018 he dedicated himself to coffee service.
After numerous orders for the first KPM+ edition were received by December 3rd, 2017, Stefan Marx personally spent two days in the factory to paint the URBINO pieces by hand. Watch here how Stefan Marx hand-paints parts of the first KPM+ edition.
The limited edition was limited in time and is no longer available.
