History

designer: Trude Petri year: 1931 material: porcelain

Trude Petri designed the URBINO collection in 1931. Its clarity and aesthetics, created by consistent omission, are based on the most balanced of all shapes: the circle. The Upper Italian Renaissance and the Italian city of Urbino, which gave the collection its name, also provided inspiration. The special thinness of the pieces conveys a graceful lightness that supports everyday enjoyment.

Product description

With a volume of 0.23 liters, the two-part soup cup from the URBINO series is the perfect size for fine soups served as a starter. It is proportioned in such a way that it can be perfectly combined with the URBINO dinner plate and the URBINO chargercharger plate . With the URBINO service, KPM Berlin has created an icon of modern design. The elegant form breathes the spirit of the Bauhaus and at the same time reveals East Asian influences. Due to the successful symbiosis of form and function, URBINO was included in the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art.

The color gradient of the CORSO decor, which flows from the center outwards and is implemented in inglaze color, allows the reduced form that underlies the aesthetics of the URBINO collection by Trude Petri to be experienced anew.
