Master of Form: Enzo Mari and the KPM Berlin

After graduating in art and literature from the Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, the designer, born in 1932, joined the "Nuove Tendenze" artists' group. It was his furniture and product designs that made him an internationally recognized designer. In the 1970s, he accepted the presidency of the Italian Society of Design and some time later held an honorary professorship at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. In his work, he repeatedly addressed questions of visual perception. His style is characterized by a great flair for simple solutions, clear forms and, of course, the practicality of everyday objects.

This is also reflected in the collaboration with KPM. In 1994, the artist designed the so-called Mari vase , whose slender, vertically rising form and minimalist design set new standards. Two years later, the BERLIN tableware set , which won the iF Design Award, was created. Its individual pieces can be combined in a variety of ways, not only with each other but also with other series – making it as multifaceted as the city itself!
