ATELIER EDITION 2022 - VERNISSAGE AT STUDIO 1763

The limited-edition Atelier Edition 2022 is the result of the reissue, adaptation, and further development of several treasures from the KPM archives. Classic KPM vases from various stylistic periods serve as the formal backdrop. These works are on display at the new Studio 1763 in the “ KPM Berlin ” pavilion on Kurfürstendamm.

Vase ZWIEBELFORM Meander (limited to 25 pieces)

The designs in the 2022 Atelier Edition were created in the design department of the “ KPM Berlin .” This specialized field of painting is one of four areas of focus (the others being floral painting, landscape painting, and figurative composition) and focuses primarily on graphic painted designs.

CONTOUR

The white porcelain contrasts with rich black, cool gray and gray-blue. Designer and master painter Solveig Uehr deliberately plays with the brush and its structure to create subtle color nuances that enliven the decor .

BANDS

The decor BÄNDER was inspired by Ernst Böhm from 1928. In typical style, Böhm developed the matching decor for a square vase (also designed by him). For the Atelier Edition 2022, this was then adapted to Friedlaender's HALLE vase in new color variations.

MÄANDER

The decor MÄANDER was inspired by the decor BLOCKSTREIFEN designed by Luise-Charlotte Koch in 1955. KPM head designer Thomas Wenzel, designer Sarah Bräuner and master painter Astrid Schulz developed the color scheme further and dynamically adapted the vertical color fonds to the objects.

BLOCK STRIPS

Luise-Charlotte Koch studied commercial and fashion graphics. At the age of 29, she and her friend and colleague Sigrid von Unruh were promoted to artistic collaborators for design work. She developed the decor BLOCKSTREIFEN in 1955 for a private commission.

PALETTE 1956/2022

Painting palettes, indicated by gold contouring, are spread across the entire body of the vase and filled with different colored monochrome brushstrokes. The title PALETTE 1956 refers to the color palette once chosen by Luise-Charlotte Koch, consisting of neutral earth tones and bright primary colors in blue.

At the new Studio 1763—the new exhibition space in the “ KPM Berlin ” Pavilion on Kurfürstendamm—the Atelier Edition 2022 was celebrated in style with an opening reception.
