KPM Berlin and Burmester Audiosysteme are united not only by their joint commitment to the "MEISTERKREIS" and the "Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen", but also by their passion for manual craftsmanship and the mutual appreciation of their high-quality products. Now we are launching together an innovative product that combines technology, design and perfected craftsmanship in a unique way. The BC 350 loudspeaker impresses with impressive dimensions of almost two metres in height, 500 kg in weight and, above all, with the high quality of its components. The high sound quality of this loudspeaker can be realised via the overall concept with all its finesse.
A highlight of the loudspeaker is the world's first hand-made, double-walled porcelain bass reflex tube. It was designed by the two Berlin manufacturers and is handmade by the KPM Berlin craftsmen. The particularly stiff and high-quality material creates ideal conditions for the use in the Burmester system. The stability of the material and the smooth surface of the perfectly crafted porcelain minimise acoustic losses and flow noise as well as undesired vibrations during bass reproduction.
Already in the 19th century, the KPM was appreciated for the high quality of its technical porcelains, which were among the basic equipment of many chemical laboratories and pharmacies. One of KPM Berlin's unique work in this field is the production of the porcelain insulators which are built into the base of the Berlin Radio Tower. Each of these insulators carries a load of unbelievable 1,400 tons, thus demonstrating the high quality and robustness of the material, which also predestines it for use in Burmester loudspeakers.
