The Hamburg based artist Stefan Marx and KPM Berlin have had a close friendship for almost two years. It all began in the course of a joint project with the Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, where Stefan Marx decorated a terrine from the traditional KURLAND series. The first KPM+ Stefan Marx Edition unfolded in November 2017 with enthusiasm for each other's skills.
The leitmotif of KPM, "handmade in Berlin", was also adopted by Stefan Marx: After designing each piece of porcelain for the first two joint KPM+ Sundaayyyssss editions of coffee and espresso himself and under the guidance of the KPM master painters, he quickly became a permanent guest and soon belonged to the interior of the painting departmenet. During his visits, the two creative partners were able to quickly convince each other of the conscientious working techniques, experiment together and discover synergies that spurred creativity. This laid the foundation stone for the now launched KPM+ Sundaayyyssss Tea Time Edition, which - in keeping with the autumn/winter season and driven by the artist's passion for Japan - invites you to a high tea with URBINO porcelain.
Stefan Marx is particularly taken with the iconic URBINO series. On it he stages his well-known "Sundaayyyssss" motifs: the drawn dog embodies the artist personal aversion to Sunday, against which he fights with his humorous drawings.
For the first edition in the winter of 2017, Marx took on the espresso articles. In the summer of 2018, he devoted himself to coffee service.
