Well protected treasures can be found throughout at KPM Berlin. On his daily tours through the manufactory KPM chief designer Thomas Wenzel noted the laboratory porcelains from past times. Small skillets, large grinding balls and evaporation bowls could be found along the path. Inspired by these remnants from the past Wenzel got to work. In his studio he experimented on paper and later with plaster models – thus his tribute to laboratory porcelain was created – the Lab collection.
The aim of the LAB collection is to create high-value products that for themselves or in combinations exhibit a multifunctional character as well as live up to the aesthetics of modern standards for living. The timeless design of the early laboratory porcelains of KPM Berlin is an ideal and inspiring template for this.
The Café Berlin invites every coffee connoisseur to a fantastic voyage of pleasure. The synthesis between modern design and innovative technology makes this KPM collection an insider tip for design enthusiasts. The collection BERLIN as well as the KPM coffee filter were awarded by the international jury of the iF Design Award. In the Café Berlin, besides the porcelain KPM Berlin also offers specially created coffee and fitting paper filters from the only paper filter manufactory in the world in Japan in the Café Berlin.
„It is great to see KPM Berlin back in the game – with a completely new and innovative perspective to a low-tech product like the coffee filter.“

Multifunctionality is the catchword for BULB from the new LAB series by KPM Berlin. It is a vase as well as a carafe as well as a diffuser. For the colour design the manufactory created a new casting process in which a layer of white and a layer of coloured porcelain mass merge into unity called the Bicolor porcelain.
